One of my greatest joys is nature — from tiny moss and insects, to birds, trees, the moon and stars. I am no expert, just acutely interested in the natural world, eager to share my observations, and learn from others more knowledgeable. I live in St. Paul, Minnesota, and write about nature encountered in my backyard garden, and in a small patch of woods along the banks of the Snake River in Pine County.
Dedicated to Cathy Borden, October 11, 1951- January 27, 2016, who loved chickadees, goldfinches, lilacs, lilies of the valley, bumblebees and the sound of crickets chirping in the night.

Hi Beth. I am glad Theresa connected me to your blog. I remember walking with you and your mom and Theresa at the cabin in Pine River and being amazed at your knowledge of all the plants — I’d never heard of rose hips until that day!! I look forward to reading more of your entries. Kathy
Hi Kathy, I have wonderful memories of walking together at the cabin — so many beautiful flowers, birds and butterflies! Cross country skiing was fun, too — just a different kind of beauty. 🙂 Thank you for reading my blog!

Hi Beth! I am an intern for the 501(c)(3) non-profit Indiana Phenology and wanted to ask your permission for use of an image of yours as part of a phenophase photo guide I am creating. If you could please write to me that would be greatly appreciated! Best, Sirena
